Job Purpose
The Education Officer reports directly to the Deputy Representative (P4), who provides close guidance, technical oversight, and day-to-day supervision. This position is initially open for a period of 3 months to address a staffing gap, with the possibility of extension should the need arise. The Education Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects. This involves applying theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical programme information, while learning organizational rules, regulations, and procedures to support the development and formulation of the Education Programme within the Country Programme.
Responsibilities
Key functions and accountabilities include support to programme development and planning, programme management, monitoring and delivery of results, technical and operational support to programme implementation, networking and partnership building, and innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building. Specifically, the role involves researching and analyzing regional and national political, health, social, and economic development trends. It requires collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing information to facilitate programme development, design, and preparation. The officer will support the preparation of technical reports and provide inputs for programme documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Contributions will be made to the development of sectoral programme goals, objectives, strategies, and results-based planning through research and analysis of education-related information. Additionally, the role provides technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing and administering a variety of technical tasks.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in programme planning, management, and implementation in the field of education is required. Experience working with children's rights and development issues is an asset.
