Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Chief of PME, the Planning Specialist contributes primarily to the strategic and programme planning of a large-size country programme in Sudan. This role involves close collaboration with other functions such as monitoring, evaluation, the Information Management Hub, programme management, and situation reporting. The specialist provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Country Programme. A key aspect of this role is strengthening capacities for risk-informed, rights- and results-based programme planning and performance management at the national, sectoral, and decentralized levels, ensuring effective support for children in Sudan.
Responsibilities
The Planning Specialist will contribute to the strategic and programme planning of a large-size country programme. This involves working closely with other functions such as monitoring, evaluation, the Information Management Hub, programme management, and situation reporting. The role provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Country Programme. A significant responsibility is strengthening capacities for risk-informed, rights- and results-based programme planning and performance management at the national, sectoral, and decentralized levels. This includes supporting the development of country programme documents, annual work plans, and other strategic planning instruments. The specialist will also contribute to the monitoring of programme performance, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and national priorities. Furthermore, the role involves supporting the PME section in information management, reporting, and implementing partnerships, ensuring that data and insights inform planning and decision-making processes.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience in programme planning, monitoring, and evaluation, preferably within a UN or international development context. Experience in a complex emergency or post-conflict setting is an asset.
