Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to support UNICEF Benin in its resource mobilization efforts, focusing on reports and resource mobilization strategies. The specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the office's capacity to secure funding and partnerships necessary to advance children's rights and well-being in Benin. This involves developing compelling proposals, strengthening relationships with donors and partners, and ensuring effective communication of UNICEF's impact and needs. The consultant will contribute to the successful implementation of the 2024–2026 cooperation program, which prioritizes girls’ education, protection from violence, community health, and combating child labor, by securing the financial and programmatic resources required to achieve these critical objectives.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy tailored to UNICEF Benin's priorities and the 2024–2026 cooperation program. This includes identifying potential funding sources, cultivating relationships with traditional and non-traditional donors, and developing targeted fundraising campaigns. Prepare high-quality proposals, concept notes, and funding requests, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and donor requirements. This involves conducting research on donor priorities, analyzing funding landscapes, and articulating the impact of UNICEF's interventions in Benin. Support the development and dissemination of compelling reports and communication materials that showcase UNICEF's achievements, challenges, and funding needs to various stakeholders, including donors, government partners, and the public. This includes drafting annual reports, success stories, and advocacy briefs. Provide technical assistance and capacity building to UNICEF Benin staff on resource mobilization techniques, proposal writing, and donor engagement. Facilitate meetings and consultations with potential partners and donors to foster collaboration and secure commitments. Monitor and analyze fundraising performance, providing regular updates and recommendations for improvement. Ensure compliance with UNICEF's financial and administrative procedures in all resource mobilization activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, partnership development, or related roles, preferably within the UN system or a similar international organization. Proven experience in proposal writing, donor reporting, and managing donor relations. Experience working in development contexts, particularly in West Africa, is an asset.
