Job Purpose
Climate change and environmental degradation are increasingly undermining children’s access to safe, inclusive, and continuous learning, with disproportionate impacts on the most vulnerable. UNICEF is strengthening its support to countries to build climate-resilient education systems that can anticipate, adapt to, and recover from climate and disaster-related shocks. This includes equipping children and young people with the knowledge and skills to contribute to sustainable development. The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical and coordination support to advance UNICEF’s climate-resilient education agenda, including supporting technical assistance requests, implementation of the flagship Climate-Resilient Education initiative, and internal capacity-strengthening efforts.
Responsibilities
The assignment will support consistent application of climate-resilient education approaches across UNICEF offices and contribute to strengthened programme coherence, quality, and scale. This includes advancing integrated approaches across policy, systems strengthening, infrastructure, and learning, and scaling technical assistance through UNICEF’s Centres of Excellence. As demand from Country Offices continues to grow, there is a need for dedicated technical and coordination support to ensure coherent delivery, quality assurance, and effective rollout of UNICEF’s climate-resilient education offer across regions and contexts. The consultant will provide technical and coordination support to advance UNICEF’s climate-resilient education agenda, supporting technical assistance requests, implementation of the flagship Climate-Resilient Education initiative, and internal capacity-strengthening efforts.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in developing, supporting, and implementing climate-resilient education initiatives.
