Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Education in Emergencies Specialist, the Gender and Inclusion (Education) Officer will carry out the tasks listed below, as well as any other tasks defined during the exercise by the UNICEF Chad Education section. The role is responsible for supporting the development and planning of programs, providing technical and operational support for program implementation, engaging in advocacy, networking, and partnership building, and fostering innovation, knowledge management, and capacity strengthening. This position is crucial for advancing gender equality and inclusion within educational programs in Chad, ensuring that all children, especially the most vulnerable, have access to quality education and can realize their full potential.
Responsibilities
The Gender and Inclusion (Education) Officer will be responsible for supporting the development and planning of education programs with a focus on gender and inclusion. This includes contributing to the design of strategies and interventions that address the specific needs of girls, boys, and marginalized groups. The officer will provide technical and operational support for the effective implementation of these programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's goals and principles. This involves working closely with government partners, local communities, and other stakeholders to facilitate program delivery and monitor progress. Furthermore, the role entails engaging in advocacy efforts to promote gender equality and inclusion in education policies and practices. Networking and partnership building with relevant organizations and actors will be essential to leverage resources and enhance program impact. The officer will also be responsible for fostering innovation in program approaches, managing knowledge generated from program activities, and strengthening the capacity of partners and staff in gender and inclusion issues within the education sector.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in program planning, management, and/or research in the field of education. Experience in monitoring and evaluating programs/projects within a UN agency or organization is an asset. Demonstrated experience in writing proposals and reports is required.
