Job Purpose
The consultant will support the Monitoring and Results Management (MRM) and OPS Units within the Office of Strategy & Evidence (OSE) by strengthening knowledge enablement, institutional learning, and sustained adoption of the UNITE system. This role is crucial for enhancing how UNICEF captures, manages, and utilizes knowledge across its operations. The consultant will focus on developing the UNITE Knowledge Architecture and Institutional Repository, facilitating knowledge capture and lessons learned processes, creating UNITE conceptual guidance products, providing support for UNITE knowledge enablement and adoption, and ensuring knowledge sustainability and handover. The ultimate goal is to improve evidence-based decision-making and programme effectiveness, contributing to the acceleration of progress towards SDGs and the delivery of UNICEF's Strategic Plan for children.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing the UNITE Knowledge Architecture and Institutional Repository, ensuring a structured and accessible system for knowledge management. This includes defining taxonomies, metadata standards, and content organization strategies. A key responsibility will be to establish and manage processes for Knowledge Capture and Lessons Learned, systematically identifying, documenting, and disseminating insights from UNICEF's work. The consultant will also create UNITE Conceptual Guidance Products, such as user guides, best practice documents, and training materials, to support the effective use of the UNITE system. Furthermore, the role involves providing direct UNITE Knowledge Enablement and Adoption Support to users and teams, facilitating training sessions, and addressing queries to ensure widespread uptake. Finally, the consultant will focus on Knowledge Sustainability and Handover, developing strategies to ensure the long-term viability and institutionalization of knowledge management practices within UNICEF, including planning for the eventual handover of responsibilities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in knowledge management, programme management, or a related field, with a proven track record in developing and implementing knowledge management systems and strategies. Experience with UN systems or international organizations is an asset.
