Job Purpose
The Child Protection Officer provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance for child protection programs, from planning to results achievement. This role involves supporting program development and planning through situation analysis and contributing to sector objectives. The officer will offer technical and operational support throughout the planning stages, including results-based management (RBM), and prepare necessary program documents and data. The position also focuses on managing, monitoring, and delivering program results by collaborating with partners on implementation, participating in monitoring and evaluation, overseeing resource utilization, ensuring compliance, and preparing regular program/project reports.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection Officer will conduct regular field visits to provide technical support and assist partners (government, NGOs, UN) in implementing UNICEF policies. A key aspect of the role is networking and establishing close partnerships with national authorities and stakeholders, participating in inter-agency meetings to harmonize strategies, and preparing resource mobilization and advocacy materials. The officer will also be responsible for identifying, synthesizing, and sharing lessons learned, applying innovative approaches, promoting best practices, and participating in capacity-building initiatives for stakeholders. This includes researching and presenting best practices and cutting-edge approaches in product development and knowledge systems. The role also involves supporting program development and planning, including situation analysis, defining sector objectives, and providing technical and operational support for results-based management. Monitoring program resource utilization and ensuring compliance with regulations are also critical functions.
Work Experience
At least two years of relevant professional experience in child protection, social development planning, social development management, program management, monitoring and evaluation, partnership management, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, knowledge management, resource mobilization, or humanitarian intervention.
