Job Purpose
The Gender and Adolescent Intern will support the Adolescent and Gender Programme in developing and validating the Girls’ Rights Agenda in Cameroon. This initiative aligns with the ongoing Girls’ Movement, aiming to advance the rights of adolescent girls. The intern will contribute to the compilation of inputs, document formatting, and tracking of activities related to the Girls’ Agenda. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in programme support within a child-focused organization, contributing to tangible outcomes for adolescent girls in Cameroon and reinforcing UNICEF's commitment to their development and protection.
Responsibilities
Support the development of the Girls’ Agenda in Cameroon by compiling inputs from various stakeholders, formatting documents, and tracking related activities. Assist in the coordination of meetings and workshops pertinent to the Girls’ Agenda and the Girls’ Movement. Conduct research on adolescent girls' rights and gender issues in Cameroon to inform programme development. Provide administrative support to the Adolescent and Gender Programme team, including preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence. Help monitor and evaluate the progress of activities related to the Girls’ Agenda. Assist in the dissemination of information and materials related to the Girls’ Agenda and UNICEF's work with adolescents and gender equality. Contribute to the overall communication efforts of the programme, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's brand and messaging. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on programme strategies and implementation. Ensure timely and accurate record-keeping of all programme-related activities and documentation. Support the team in any other ad-hoc tasks as required to ensure the smooth functioning of the Adolescent and Gender Programme.
Work Experience
Previous experience in programme support, research, or administrative roles, preferably within a development or humanitarian context, is an asset. Experience working with youth or on gender-related issues is desirable.
