Job Purpose

The Communication Specialist will be accountable for developing, managing, coordinating, networking, implementing, and monitoring an advocacy and communication strategy, along with related products and activities, on an ongoing basis for public audiences. The objective is to promote awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children’s and women’s rights, while advancing UNICEF’s mission, priorities, and programmes at the country office, regional office, media hub, global level, and within the UN Country Team. This role is crucial in shaping public perception and garnering support for UNICEF's work in the State of Palestine.

Responsibilities

Develop, manage, coordinate, network, implement, and monitor an advocacy and communication strategy, along with related products and activities, on an ongoing basis for public audiences. Promote awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children’s and women’s rights. Advance UNICEF’s mission, priorities, and programmes at the country office, regional office, media hub, global level, and within the UN Country Team. Manage media relations, including press releases, media advisories, and responding to media inquiries. Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers. Organize and manage special events, campaigns, and celebrity engagements to amplify UNICEF's message. Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels, aligning with global priorities and campaigns. Mobilize resources through effective communication strategies. Report to the Chief of Communication and functionally report to the Special Representative.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of professional experience in communication, advocacy, public relations, or a related field. Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies. Experience working in a challenging environment is an asset.
