Consultancy to provide technical and related support to the Department of Basic Education’s ECD Directorate, Pretoria, South Africa/Education, Early Childhood Development, 13.5 months (NATIONAL ONLY, home and office based with trip)

Job Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical and related support to the Department of Basic Education’s ECD Directorate. This involves strengthening and maintaining knowledge and professional development support systems within the early learning sector. Key activities include expanding and managing content for the ECD Information Hub, a dynamic knowledge and advocacy platform. It also entails migrating, implementing, developing content for, and ensuring the sustainability of digital ECD platforms like ECDmobi and the P.L.A.Y. online in-service training. Furthermore, the role involves identifying and effectively sharing key knowledge products on early learning through play with all stakeholders in an accessible manner.

Responsibilities

Provide technical and related support to the Department of Basic Education’s ECD Directorate. Develop, strengthen, and maintain knowledge and professional development support systems within the early learning sector. Expand and manage content for the ECD Information Hub, ensuring it functions as a dynamic knowledge and advocacy platform. Oversee the migration, implementation, content development, and sustainability of digital ECD platforms, including ECDmobi and the P.L.A.Y. online in-service training. Identify and share key knowledge products on early learning through play in an accessible and effective manner to all stakeholders. Collaborate with relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. Document and report on progress, challenges, and lessons learned throughout the assignment. Ensure all activities align with UNICEF's mandate and the goals of the ECD Directorate. Contribute to the overall enhancement of early childhood development initiatives in South Africa.

Work Experience

A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience is required in areas such as digital content development, knowledge management, communications, or management of online platforms.
