Job Purpose
The Senior Nutrition Associate (Nutrition for School-Aged Children) will contribute to the Nutrition and Child Development Section's efforts in Lebanon to address the triple burden of malnutrition among children and adolescents. This role is crucial for implementing Output 1.6 of the section’s rolling workplan, which aims to ensure school-age children and adolescents have access to and demand for adequate diets and services to prevent all forms of malnutrition. The position will support strengthening food systems, enhancing school-based interventions, generating evidence, and advocating for policy and regulatory reforms within increasingly obesogenic food environments.
Responsibilities
Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition programmes targeting school-aged children and adolescents, with a focus on preventing all forms of malnutrition. Contribute to the development and strengthening of school-based nutrition interventions, including health and nutrition education, school feeding programmes, and micronutrient supplementation. Assist in the analysis of nutrition data and trends, including undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, overweight, and obesity, to inform programme strategies and advocacy. Support the generation of evidence on dietary patterns, food environments, and the effectiveness of interventions. Collaborate with internal UNICEF sections and external partners, including government ministries, NGOs, and community-based organizations, to ensure a coordinated and multi-sectoral approach. Provide technical assistance and capacity building to partners involved in the implementation of nutrition programmes. Contribute to the development of communication and advocacy materials to raise awareness about nutrition issues and promote healthy diets. Support the monitoring and evaluation of programme activities and outcomes, ensuring timely reporting and documentation of results. Assist in the preparation of programme proposals, budgets, and reports.
Work Experience
At least five years of professional experience in nutrition, public health, or a related field, with a focus on child and adolescent nutrition. Experience in programme implementation, monitoring, and evaluation is essential. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is an asset.
