Job Purpose
The Nutrition Specialist (wasting, humanitarian, refugees) supports the development and preparation of the nutrition programme, with a particular focus on child wasting, including in humanitarian settings. This role is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the programme's progress within the country programme. The Nutrition Specialist provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable results in child wasting programmes and projects. This is carried out according to plans, allocations, results-based management approaches and methodologies, as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework. The position is responsible for wasting prevention and treatment, including nutrition in humanitarian contexts, supporting local solutions, and increasing the availability and access to lifesaving nutrition supplies for children with severe acute malnutrition.
Responsibilities
Support to programme development and planning, including situation analysis, needs assessment, and development of programme goals and objectives. Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results, ensuring that programmes are implemented according to plans, RBM, and UNICEF standards. Technical and operational support to programme implementation, providing expertise and guidance to partners and staff. Networking and partnership building with government, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and resource mobilization. Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building, including identifying and promoting innovative approaches, documenting lessons learned, and building the capacity of national partners and staff in nutrition programming, particularly for child wasting and in humanitarian contexts.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in nutrition programming, with a focus on child wasting, humanitarian settings, and refugee contexts.
