Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Regional Chief of Supply & Procurement, the Supply & Logistics Manager will oversee the Region’s sustainable supply chain operations and emergency response operations. This role involves providing guidance, oversight, and direction to country offices within the Eastern and Southern Africa Region (ESAR) on supply chain management-related issues. A key aspect of the position is supporting supply and logistics emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that UNICEF can effectively deliver essential supplies and services to children in critical situations. The manager will collaborate closely with programmes in country offices to align supply interventions with programmatic needs and achieve tangible results for children.
Responsibilities
The Supply & Logistics Manager is accountable for providing technical support to UNICEF Country Offices on the management of Supply Planning and monitoring. This includes ensuring efficient supply chain service delivery and effective emergency response operations. The role requires close collaboration with Country Office programme teams, Supply teams, and implementing partners to ensure seamless coordination and execution of supply chain activities. Furthermore, the manager will provide technical and advisory support to governments and national systems on supply chain management best practices. This includes contributing to innovation, product development, and market analysis to optimize supply chain performance and ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services. The position also involves monitoring of supplies, services, and construction works to ensure quality and compliance.
Work Experience
At least 8 years of relevant work experience in Supply Management, Contracting, Logistics, or Administration.
