The Division of Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) in Geneva maximizes UNICEF’s private fundraising, partnerships, and engagement, especially through National Committees (NatComs).
Job Purpose
The National Committee Relations Specialist supports the Deputy Director, National Committee Relations by coordinating and strengthening UNICEF–NatCom relationships through communication, analysis, and facilitation. This role provides tailored support to National Committees, tracks agreed follow-up actions, and helps connect NatComs with the wider UNICEF system to enhance their contribution to UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, particularly in high-income countries. The specialist ensures strategic alignment between NatComs and UNICEF through Joint Strategic Planning (JSP), manages relationships and risks, and acts as the primary liaison with NatCom Executive Directors and Board Chairs, ultimately aiming to maximize the value of these relationships while preserving the organization's reputation.
Responsibilities
Facilitates strong working relationships and provides strategic support to National Committees (NatComs) to maximize the value of these partnerships while safeguarding UNICEF's reputation. Manages the Joint Strategic Planning (JSP) development and annual review processes, ensuring alignment of strategic priorities and providing quality assurance. Monitors JSP results and coordinates across UNICEF teams (within PFP, other Divisions, and Regional Offices) and with NatComs to harmonize interactions. Engages in risk management with NatComs, facilitating crisis prevention or management in instances of potential non-alignment with UNICEF policies, strategies, or the Cooperation Agreement. Acts as a primary liaison with NatCom Executive Directors and Board Chairs, fostering effective communication and collaboration to enhance their contribution to UNICEF’s Strategic Plans.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in international relations, partnership management, fundraising, or a related field. Experience working with National Committees or similar non-profit organizations is highly desirable. Experience in strategic planning and risk management is also beneficial.
