Job Purpose

In support of the emergency programme and staff mobilization plan for the Emergency Response, the Chief WASH reports to the Deputy Representative for general guidance and direction. The Chief is responsible for managing and supervising all stages of the WASH programme from strategic planning and formulation to the delivery of the WASH outcome and output results. The Chief is also responsible for leading and managing the CO WASH team. The Chief WASH is accountable for ensuring that the WASH outcome and output results are achieved according to plans, allocations, results based-management approaches and methodology, UNICEF’s Strategic Plan, standards of performance and accountability framework.

Responsibilities

The Chief WASH will provide managerial and technical leadership, strategic guidance in Programme development and planning, and ensure efficiency in programme management, monitoring and quality control of results. They will offer advisory services and technical support, engage in advocacy, networking and partnership building, and ensure the quality, timeliness, and predictability of humanitarian WASH preparedness and response. Additionally, the role involves fostering innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the WASH sector. This includes overseeing all stages of the WASH programme, from strategic planning and formulation to the delivery of outcome and output results, while leading and managing the country office WASH team.

Work Experience

A minimum of ten years of professional experience in the WASH sector is required.
