Job Purpose
The People & Culture Assistant (GS-5) plays a crucial role in the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions within UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre. This position involves managing complex administrative and transactional tasks related to HR, recruitment, and payroll, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in compliance with UN, UNICEF HR, financial, and recruitment rules and regulations. The assistant will process HR transactions, maintain data integrity, and contribute to the smooth operation of onboarding, benefits, recruitment, payroll, and offboarding processes. This role is essential for upholding the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and confidentiality in HR service delivery, supporting UNICEF's mission to serve children globally.
Responsibilities
The People & Culture Assistant is responsible for processing HR, recruitment, and payroll tasks with a high degree of accuracy and compliance, ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures. This includes meticulously monitoring and verifying data to maintain the highest standards of quality and confidentiality, and safeguarding data privacy. The role requires timely completion of all assigned tasks, efficient planning and prioritization based on workload and case requests, and consistent monitoring of Service Level Agreements (SLA) compliance. The assistant will contribute to the update and maintenance of knowledge articles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and step-by-step guides. A key responsibility is to foster a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to simplify, streamline, and standardize processes for maximum efficiency. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is vital for effective communication and coordination, including participation in testing for business process and system changes to ensure accurate calculations. The assistant will support various HR functions such as onboarding, benefits and entitlements, recruitment administrative services, and payroll and offboarding.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in administration is required. Alternatively, candidates with a related Bachelor's degree need three years of experience, and those with a related Master's degree need two years of experience.
