Job Purpose
The Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is the primary global decision-making body addressing climate change. Türkiye will host COP31 in Antalya, in November 2026, bringing together Parties, international organizations, civil society, and other stakeholders to negotiate and advance global climate action. The consultant will assist with technical analysis, coordination activities, documentation, and logistical preparation to ensure that UNICEF’s engagement in COP31 is well-organized, informed, and aligned with global climate policy objectives. This role is crucial for enhancing UNICEF's contribution to climate change discussions and ensuring child-related issues are considered.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for providing technical analysis related to climate change policies and their impact on children. This includes researching and synthesizing complex information on international climate policy and the UNFCCC process. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including internal UNICEF teams and external partners, to ensure a cohesive and effective UNICEF presence at COP31. Documentation is a key responsibility, requiring the creation of high-quality written content in both English and Turkish, such as reports, briefs, and presentations. Logistical preparation for UNICEF's participation in COP31 will also be managed, ensuring all arrangements are in place for a successful engagement. The consultant will also support advocacy efforts related to child rights and youth participation in climate action, leveraging their understanding of these areas to inform UNICEF's strategy and activities.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in supporting climate action and advocacy. Experience working with children, adolescents, and young people is preferable.
