Job Purpose
Under the guidance and general supervision of the Chief Education P4, the Specialist supports the development and preparation of Education programmes. They are responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the progress of education programmes/projects within the country programme. The Specialist provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results on education programmes/projects. The ultimate goal is to improve learning outcomes and ensure equitable and inclusive education, especially for children who are marginalized, disadvantaged, and excluded in society. The Specialist contributes to achieving results according to plans, allocation, results-based management approaches, and UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.
Responsibilities
The Education Specialist will support programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and country-specific needs. They will manage, monitor, and deliver results for education programmes and projects, ensuring timely and effective implementation. The role involves providing technical and operational support to programme implementation, offering expertise and guidance to partners and stakeholders. Networking and partnership building are crucial for fostering collaboration with government bodies, NGOs, and other UN agencies to enhance programme reach and impact. Furthermore, the Specialist will drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector, sharing best practices and promoting continuous learning. This includes identifying opportunities for programme improvement and scaling up successful interventions to benefit more children.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in Programme Management, Education, Research, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, or any other related fields is required. This experience ensures a strong understanding of programme cycles and effective implementation strategies.
