Job Purpose
The WASH Manager will report to the Chief of WASH/CSD (P5) and will be responsible for supporting the Chief in managing the WASH section. This role involves leading the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the WASH programme within the country programme. The incumbent will provide crucial technical guidance and management support throughout all programming processes to ensure the achievement of WASH-related output results. Additionally, the position requires delivering authoritative advisory services to government counterparts and sector support agencies, and engaging with government representatives at senior levels, as well as with senior staff of International Development Banks.
Responsibilities
Support the Chief of WASH/CSD (P5) in the overall management of the WASH section. Lead the strategic development, planning, and implementation of the country's WASH programme, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's global goals and national priorities. Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of WASH programme activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting on outputs and outcomes. Provide expert technical guidance and management support to programme staff and partners throughout the programme cycle. Deliver authoritative advisory services to government ministries, local authorities, and sector support agencies on WASH policies and strategies. Engage with senior government officials and representatives of international development banks to foster partnerships and mobilize resources. Ensure that WASH interventions are integrated with other sectors, such as health, education, and child protection, to maximize impact. Manage programme budgets effectively, ensuring efficient use of resources and accountability. Contribute to emergency preparedness and response efforts for WASH-related crises, providing leadership and technical expertise. Foster innovation and best practices in WASH programming, including those related to climate resilience and environmental sustainability. Build and maintain strong partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, civil society organizations, and the private sector to enhance programme delivery and impact.
Work Experience
A minimum of eight years of professional experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required, including one year of deployment in a developing country. At least six months of work in humanitarian situations, including one three-month deployment mission, is also required.
