Job Purpose
The Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Consultant for BARMM will work under the supervision of the Nutrition Officer in the Mindanao Field Office. This role involves close technical coordination with various UNICEF teams, including the MFO Cross Sectoral Team, Sector Leads, the SBC unit in Manila, and the UNICEF PMNP team. The consultant will also collaborate with programme assistants and government partners at subnational and local levels. The position is co-managed by the Health and Nutrition Team and the Cross-Sectoral (SBC) team, with specific tasks assigned under each team's purview. The primary focus is to support SBC initiatives within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for contributing to the evidence generation and pilot testing of Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) strategies within the BARMM region. This includes developing and implementing SBC interventions tailored to the local context, particularly in areas related to nutrition and child health. The role requires close collaboration with government partners and civil society organizations to ensure the sustainability and scalability of these interventions. The consultant will also be involved in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of SBC activities, providing technical guidance, and reporting on progress. Key tasks will involve working with the MFO Cross Sectoral Team, Sector Leads, and the SBC unit in Manila to align strategies with national and regional priorities. Additionally, the consultant will support the Health and Nutrition Team and the Cross-Sectoral (SBC) team in executing their respective mandates, ensuring seamless integration of SBC components into broader programme objectives. This includes engaging with programme assistants and local stakeholders to facilitate effective service delivery and system strengthening.
Work Experience
At least two years of professional experience in Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) communication, public health, or a related field, preferably in a development or humanitarian context. Experience working in the Philippines or similar cultural contexts is an asset.
