Information Technology Officer (Project) - Testing Lead

Job Purpose
The Information Technology Officer (Project) - Testing Lead will be responsible for overseeing and executing comprehensive testing strategies for IT projects within UNHCR. This involves developing and implementing test plans, designing test cases, and coordinating testing activities to ensure the quality, functionality, and reliability of IT solutions. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving defects, collaborating closely with development teams and stakeholders to ensure that all project deliverables meet the highest standards of performance and user satisfaction. The Testing Lead will play a crucial part in the successful deployment of new systems and enhancements, contributing directly to UNHCR's operational efficiency and its ability to serve refugees effectively.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a robust testing strategy and detailed test plans for various IT projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and UNHCR's IT standards. Design, write, and execute comprehensive test cases, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing, to identify software defects and ensure system integrity. Lead and coordinate the activities of the testing team, providing guidance and support to ensure timely and effective execution of test cycles. Collaborate closely with project managers, business analysts, and developers to understand project requirements, clarify specifications, and ensure thorough test coverage. Identify, document, and track software defects using appropriate tools, working with development teams to resolve issues and verify fixes. Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and facilitate feedback sessions with end-users to ensure solutions meet business needs. Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies, recommending best practices and tools to enhance efficiency and quality. Prepare and present test reports, summarizing test results, defect status, and overall system quality to project stakeholders. Ensure that all testing activities are well-documented and adhere to established quality assurance standards and project timelines.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in IT, with a significant focus on software testing and quality assurance. Proven experience in leading testing efforts for complex IT projects is required.
