Job Purpose
The Fundraising Communications Assistant will support UNHCR's Hong Kong office in its fundraising and communication efforts. This role is crucial for enhancing the visibility of UNHCR's work and engaging potential donors and the public. The assistant will contribute to developing and implementing communication strategies that resonate with the local audience, aiming to increase support for refugees and displaced persons. By crafting compelling narratives and utilizing various communication channels, the position plays a key part in mobilizing resources and fostering a greater understanding of UNHCR's mandate and impact. The goal is to strengthen donor relations and broaden the base of support for UNHCR's vital operations in the region and globally.
Responsibilities
The Fundraising Communications Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of fundraising communication strategies. This includes drafting and editing content for various platforms such as social media, websites, newsletters, and press releases, ensuring alignment with UNHCR's brand guidelines and messaging. The role involves supporting the organization of fundraising events and campaigns, including logistical arrangements and promotional activities. The assistant will also help in managing and updating communication databases and contact lists, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Furthermore, they will conduct research on potential donors, partners, and relevant communication trends to inform strategy development. Monitoring media coverage and social media engagement related to UNHCR's work and campaigns will be a key task. The position requires close collaboration with the fundraising and communications teams, as well as other relevant departments, to ensure cohesive messaging and effective outreach. Assisting in the preparation of reports on communication activities and fundraising outcomes will also be part of the responsibilities. The role may involve other communication-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support the office's objectives.
Work Experience
Previous experience in communications, marketing, or fundraising, preferably within a non-profit or international organization setting. Experience with digital communication tools and platforms is an asset.
