Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to contribute to UNHCR's digital planning and strategy, with a specific focus on information integrity. The incumbent will support the development and implementation of digital initiatives that enhance the reliability, accuracy, and trustworthiness of information managed by UNHCR. This involves analyzing current digital practices, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing innovative solutions to strengthen information integrity across various platforms and systems. The role will play a crucial part in ensuring that UNHCR's data and information assets are secure, accessible, and used ethically to support its mandate of protecting refugees and other displaced persons. The position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of digital technologies and their application in a humanitarian context, aiming to bolster UNHCR's operational effectiveness and accountability through robust information management.

Responsibilities

The Individual Contractor will be responsible for supporting the development and refinement of UNHCR's digital planning and strategy, with a particular emphasis on ensuring information integrity. This includes conducting research and analysis on emerging digital trends and technologies relevant to information management and protection. The incumbent will assist in the formulation of digital policies and guidelines that uphold the highest standards of data accuracy, security, and ethical use. A key responsibility will be to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities related to information integrity within UNHCR's digital ecosystem and propose mitigation strategies. The role will involve collaborating with various internal stakeholders, including IT, data management, and program units, to gather requirements and ensure alignment of digital initiatives with organizational objectives. Furthermore, the contractor will contribute to the design and implementation of tools and processes that enhance data quality and verification mechanisms. This may also include supporting the development of training materials and awareness campaigns on information integrity for staff. The position requires active participation in project meetings, providing regular updates on progress, and contributing to the overall success of digital transformation efforts within UNHCR, ensuring that information remains a reliable asset for decision-making and operational support.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of professional experience in digital planning, strategy development, or information management, preferably within an international organization or humanitarian context. Experience with data integrity principles and practices is highly desirable.
