Job Purpose
The Communications Intern will support UNHCR's communication activities in Kenya, contributing to the dissemination of information about refugee issues and UNHCR's work. The intern will help raise awareness about the challenges faced by refugees and the impact of UNHCR's interventions. Responsibilities
Assist in developing and implementing communication strategies and plans to enhance UNHCR's visibility and impact in Kenya. Create and curate engaging content, including press releases, social media posts, website articles, and visual materials, tailored for different audiences and platforms. Support the organization and execution of communication events, press briefings, and outreach activities. Monitor media coverage and social media trends related to refugee issues and UNHCR's operations. Assist in managing and updating UNHCR's digital platforms, including the website and social media channels. Support the communications team in responding to media inquiries and facilitating interviews. Help in drafting reports and analyses on communication activities and their effectiveness. Contribute to maintaining positive relationships with media, partners, and stakeholders. Ensure all communication materials adhere to UNHCR's brand guidelines and communication policies. Assist in documenting UNHCR's work through photography and videography, where appropriate. Support the team in translating communication materials as needed. Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required, but previous internship or volunteer experience in communications or a related field is an asset.
