Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support UNHCR's educational initiatives and programs within the Democratic Republic of Congo. This involves contributing to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of educational activities aimed at refugees and other persons of concern. The role will focus on ensuring access to quality education, promoting learning opportunities, and addressing educational challenges faced by vulnerable populations. The incumbent will work closely with educational partners, local authorities, and community members to foster an environment conducive to learning and development, ultimately contributing to the well-being and future prospects of those served by UNHCR.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of educational strategies and projects aligned with UNHCR's mandate and global education policies. This includes supporting the delivery of educational services at various levels, from early childhood to tertiary education, and vocational training. The role involves coordinating with implementing partners to ensure the effective delivery of educational resources and support. Furthermore, the incumbent will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of educational programs, collecting data on student enrollment, attendance, and learning outcomes. They will also assist in identifying educational needs and gaps, and in proposing appropriate interventions. The position requires active participation in inter-agency coordination meetings related to education and contributing to the preparation of reports and proposals. The incumbent will also support the organization of educational events and awareness campaigns, and ensure that educational activities are inclusive and responsive to the specific needs of children, youth, and adults, including those with disabilities and from marginalized groups.
Work Experience
Some relevant work experience in education, humanitarian aid, or development programs is desirable.
