Organizational Context
The Registration Associate is part of the Registration team, supervised by the Registration Officer. This role is crucial for supporting registration activities, ensuring it effectively identifies protection needs, manages operations, and contributes to durable solutions. The position may involve supervising registration staff and monitoring the quality of registration processes and data management.
Job Purpose
The Registration Associate's primary purpose is to support all aspects of UNHCR's registration activities, ensuring they are conducted efficiently and effectively. This involves implementing registration strategies, conducting interviews, providing counselling to asylum seekers and refugees on procedures and rights, and maintaining accurate population data. The role is vital for identifying individuals with specific needs and facilitating referrals to protection services. By collaborating with protection, programme, and data management teams, as well as government authorities and partners, the Associate ensures the provision of quality population data essential for operational management and the achievement of durable solutions for refugees and other persons of concern.
Responsibilities
The Registration Associate is responsible for assisting in the implementation of registration strategies and methodologies. They will support the daily running of registration team activities, including conducting registration interviews in accordance with established standards. A key duty is to provide counselling and respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures, their rights, and entitlements. The Associate must maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data for all registration cases. They will identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referrals to protection follow-up. Collaboration with protection staff and partners is essential for delivering assistance and programming, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation. The role involves drafting correspondence and reports related to registration activities, as well as providing statistics and reports on registration data. The Associate will contribute to devising efficient and effective registration procedures and managing operational risks, reporting any issues to their supervisor. Other related duties as required are also part of the responsibilities.
Work Experience
3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher. Experience in data management is essential.
