Job Purpose
The Fuel Logistics Associate will be responsible for supporting the efficient and effective management of fuel supplies within UNHCR operations. This role is crucial for ensuring that fuel is procured, stored, and distributed in a timely and cost-effective manner to support various programmatic activities, including transportation, power generation, and other essential services. The associate will contribute to maintaining adequate fuel stocks, monitoring consumption, and ensuring compliance with logistical procedures and standards. This position plays a vital part in the operational continuity and success of UNHCR's mission by guaranteeing the availability of a critical resource for field operations and administrative functions, thereby enabling the delivery of protection and assistance to refugees and other persons of concern.
Responsibilities
The Fuel Logistics Associate will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations related to fuel management. This includes coordinating the procurement of fuel from approved vendors, ensuring timely delivery to various UNHCR sites and field operations. The associate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, tracking fuel levels, and monitoring consumption patterns to prevent stockouts and minimize waste. They will also manage the distribution of fuel to end-users, ensuring that requests are processed efficiently and that all transactions are properly documented. A key responsibility will be to liaise with internal departments, such as finance and procurement, as well as external stakeholders, including fuel suppliers and local authorities, to ensure smooth operations. The associate will also assist in developing and implementing fuel management policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with UNHCR regulations and best practices. Furthermore, they will be involved in reporting on fuel stocks, consumption, and expenditures, and may be required to conduct site visits to assess fuel storage facilities and distribution mechanisms. The role also entails identifying potential risks and challenges in the fuel supply chain and proposing mitigation strategies to ensure operational resilience and cost-effectiveness.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is required. Experience in fuel management or the energy sector is considered an asset.
