Job Purpose
The PPH Associate will support the Public Health and Population (PPH) unit in its mission to promote and protect the health and well-being of refugees and other persons of concern. This role involves assisting in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of public health programs, with a particular focus on population data management and analysis. The Associate will contribute to ensuring that health services are accessible, equitable, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable populations. This includes supporting initiatives related to disease prevention, health promotion, reproductive health, and mental health, as well as contributing to the collection, analysis, and reporting of population data for evidence-based decision-making and program improvement.
Responsibilities
Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of public health and population-related activities and projects within the country operation. Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of population data, including demographic information, health indicators, and needs assessments, to inform program design and advocacy. Contribute to the development and dissemination of health information materials and awareness campaigns targeting refugees and host communities. Provide support to partners and implementing agencies in the delivery of health services, ensuring adherence to UNHCR standards and guidelines. Assist in coordinating meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to public health and population issues. Help in drafting reports, proposals, and other documentation as required. Maintain records and databases related to public health and population activities. Liaise with relevant government ministries, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and collaboration. Support the PPH unit in emergency preparedness and response activities related to public health. Undertake field visits to monitor program implementation and gather feedback from beneficiaries. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial reports for PPH activities. Contribute to the continuous improvement of PPH strategies and interventions based on evidence and best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in public health, population studies, or a related field is required. Experience working with refugees or in humanitarian settings is an asset.
