Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for operating UNHCR vehicles to transport authorized personnel, deliver and collect documents, and move other items as required. A key duty involves meeting official personnel at airports or other locations and facilitating necessary immigration and customs procedures. The incumbent must perform daily checks and maintenance on assigned vehicles, including monitoring oil, water, battery, and brakes, and ensuring tires are in good condition. This ensures vehicles are roadworthy and meet established security standards. Minor repairs are to be conducted by the Driver, and arrangements made for other necessary repairs, while also maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle. In the event of an accident, the Driver must follow all required rules, regulations, and local procedures. Accurate logs of official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities (oil changes, greasing) must be maintained. Strict adherence to instructions and security guidance from the supervisor and security focal point is mandatory. The Driver must also ensure that all passengers and cargo have the correct documentation. Furthermore, the role includes supporting the identification and management of risks that could impact operational objectives, reporting any identified risks, issues, or concerns to the supervisor. The Driver may also be assigned other related duties as required by the office.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required. Essential functional skills include knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and basic vehicle mechanical skills.
