Organizational Context
The Driver is part of the UNHCR Office in Khartoum, Sudan, reporting to the Administrative Officer or a designated supervisor. Job Purpose

This includes providing reliable transport services to UNHCR staff and partners, facilitating airport pickups, and ensuring vehicles are maintained in roadworthy condition according to UNHCR's technical and security standards. The Driver is also responsible for performing minor vehicle repairs, maintaining accurate logs of trips and vehicle usage, and ensuring compliance with all traffic regulations and accident procedures. The role requires a high degree of responsibility in managing vehicle upkeep and adhering to strict security protocols to safeguard personnel and assets during transit.
Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for operating UNHCR vehicles to transport authorized passengers, deliver and collect documents, and move goods. A key duty is to meet official personnel at airports and assist with immigration and customs formalities. The incumbent must perform daily checks and maintenance on assigned vehicles, including oil, water, battery, and brake systems, ensuring they meet established security and roadworthiness standards. Minor repairs are to be conducted by the driver, and arrangements made for other necessary servicing, while keeping the vehicle clean. In the event of an accident, the Driver must follow all required procedures and regulations. Accurate logging of official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities is essential. Strict adherence to instructions and security guidance from supervisors and security focal points is mandatory. The Driver must also ensure that all documentation for passengers, items, or cargo within the vehicle is valid and in order. Additionally, the role involves supporting risk management by identifying and reporting potential risks and opportunities impacting the area of responsibility, and raising concerns to supervisors. The Driver may be assigned other related duties as required.
