Organizational Context
The Driver is supervised by the Administrative Officer/Associate/Assistant or another staff member as needed. The role involves driving UNHCR vehicles for official purposes, ensuring vehicle maintenance, and adhering to strict security guidelines. The incumbent interacts with internal staff and external stakeholders, exchanging information as required.
Job Purpose
The Driver's primary responsibility is to operate UNHCR vehicles for transporting authorized personnel, documents, and other items. This includes meeting officials at airports and facilitating immigration and customs procedures. A key aspect of the role is performing daily maintenance on assigned vehicles, ensuring they are roadworthy and meet security standards. The Driver is also responsible for minor repairs, arranging for further servicing, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness. They must meticulously log all trips, mileage, and fuel consumption. Adherence to all rules, regulations, and security instructions from supervisors is paramount. The Driver ensures all necessary documentation for passengers and cargo is in order and supports risk management by identifying and reporting potential issues.
Responsibilities
Operate UNHCR vehicles to transport authorized passengers, deliver and collect documents, and other items. Meet official personnel at airports and assist with immigration and customs formalities. Conduct daily checks on assigned vehicles, including oil, water, battery, and brakes, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with security standards. Perform minor vehicle repairs and arrange for professional servicing when needed. Maintain the cleanliness of UNHCR vehicles. Follow established procedures in case of vehicle accidents. Accurately record daily mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities in logbooks. Strictly adhere to all instructions and security guidance provided by supervisors and security focal points. Ensure that all passengers, items, or cargo in the vehicle have the required valid documentation. Support the identification and management of risks and opportunities related to their area of responsibility, reporting any concerns to supervisors. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
