Job Purpose
The Education Assistant will support the implementation and monitoring of UNHCR's education programs in Chad. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Education Officer, the Education Assistant will be responsible for a range of tasks to support UNHCR's education interventions in Chad. This includes assisting in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of educational activities for refugees and displaced populations, ensuring alignment with national education standards and UNHCR's policies. The role involves coordinating with local education authorities, schools, and implementing partners to facilitate refugee enrollment, attendance, and retention. The Education Assistant will also support the collection and analysis of education data, including enrollment figures, learning outcomes, and teacher training needs, to inform program development and reporting. Furthermore, the incumbent will assist in organizing and conducting training sessions for teachers and education personnel, and in developing educational materials. The position requires active participation in inter-agency coordination meetings related to education and protection, and contributing to the development of proposals and reports. The Education Assistant will also play a role in identifying and addressing barriers to education for vulnerable groups, including girls, children with disabilities, and adolescents, and will support the promotion of safe and inclusive learning environments.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in the education sector, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts. Experience working with displaced populations or in refugee settings is advantageous.
