Job Purpose
The Associate Capacity Building Officer will support UNHCR's efforts in enhancing the skills and knowledge of its staff and partners. This role is crucial for strengthening the organization's operational capacity and ensuring effective delivery of protection and assistance to refugees and displaced populations. The officer will contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of training programs and learning initiatives. This includes identifying training needs, developing relevant content, and facilitating workshops. The position aims to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within UNHCR and its implementing partners, ultimately improving the quality and impact of humanitarian response. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying emerging training needs and adapting learning solutions to meet evolving challenges in the field of refugee protection and assistance.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement capacity building strategies and programs in line with UNHCR's mandate and operational priorities. Identify training needs for UNHCR staff and implementing partners through assessments and consultations. Design and develop training materials, curricula, and learning resources, ensuring they are relevant, practical, and aligned with best practices. Facilitate and deliver training sessions, workshops, and other learning events, both in-person and remotely. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of capacity building initiatives, collecting feedback and data to inform future programming. Provide technical support and guidance to staff and partners on various aspects of refugee protection and assistance. Contribute to the development of online learning platforms and e-learning modules. Foster partnerships with external training institutions and organizations to leverage resources and expertise. Stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in capacity building and adult learning. Document and share lessons learned and best practices from capacity building activities. Support the coordination of capacity building efforts across different UNHCR operations and units. Assist in the management of training budgets and resources, ensuring efficient utilization.
Work Experience
Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in capacity building, training, or programme management, preferably within a humanitarian or development context. Experience in designing and delivering training programs is essential.
