Organizational Context
The Registration Assistant is part of the registration team, supervised by a senior colleague reporting to the Registration Officer. This role supports registration activities, reception, filing, and data management, responding to asylum seeker and refugee queries about UNHCR procedures, rights, and entitlements.
Job Purpose
The Registration Assistant's primary purpose is to support all registration-related activities, ensuring accurate data management and providing essential information to asylum seekers and refugees. This involves conducting registration interviews according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and registration standards, and responding to inquiries about UNHCR's registration processes, their rights, and entitlements. The role also entails maintaining up-to-date records for all individual registration cases, identifying individuals with specific needs, and ensuring their timely referral for protection follow-up. Furthermore, the assistant collaborates with protection staff and partners on assistance and programming, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation, and may act as an interpreter or translator when required, liaising with other units and implementing partners as necessary.

Collaboration with protection staff and/or partners is crucial for the delivery of assistance and programming, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation. The assistant may also serve as an interpreter and translator when needed and is responsible for referring cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners. Additionally, the role includes supporting the identification and management of risks and seeking opportunities that impact objectives in the area of responsibility, ensuring risk-based decision-making. The incumbent must raise risks, issues, and concerns to a supervisor or relevant colleagues and perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
1 year of relevant experience is required for candidates with a High School Diploma. Experience working with UNHCR proGres software is desirable.
