Job Purpose
The HR Intern will support the Human Resources section in various administrative and operational tasks. This role is designed to provide a learning opportunity for individuals interested in human resources within an international organization. The intern will assist in daily HR operations, contribute to ongoing projects, and gain practical experience in areas such as recruitment, personnel administration, and HR data management. The position aims to offer exposure to the complexities of HR management in a humanitarian context, fostering professional development while contributing to the efficient functioning of the HR unit. The intern will work under the guidance of HR staff, learning about UNHCR's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Assist in the recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, posting vacancies, screening applications, and scheduling interviews. Provide administrative support for onboarding and offboarding processes for staff and affiliates. Maintain and update HR records and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Support the administration of staff benefits and entitlements. Assist in organizing and conducting HR-related training and orientation sessions. Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures. Help in preparing HR reports and statistics. Respond to basic HR-related queries from staff. Participate in HR projects as assigned, such as those related to performance management or staff well-being. Ensure compliance with UNHCR's HR policies and relevant UN regulations. Support the HR team in daily operational tasks and ad-hoc requests. Assist in managing employee relations and conflict resolution initiatives. Contribute to diversity and inclusion initiatives within the organization. Help in organizing staff events and activities. Ensure proper filing and documentation of HR-related documents.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required, but an internship or volunteer experience in HR or administration is an asset.
