Information Management Associate
Organizational Context
The Information Management Associate supports the production and dissemination of information on UNHCR's populations of concern, including Protection and Programme data. The role involves operationalizing data standards in field operations, compiling and exploring data, and supporting Programme and Protection teams in monitoring and data collection systems.
Job Purpose
The Information Management Associate is responsible for supporting the production and dissemination of critical information concerning UNHCR's populations of concern, encompassing both Protection and Programme data. A key aspect of this role is to operationalize data standards, which are developed at a central level, within field operations. This involves compiling and exploring data from all populations of concern to ensure accuracy and completeness. The Associate will provide essential support to the Programme Team and UNHCR's implementing partners, particularly in selecting appropriate indicators for monitoring that will be integrated into sub-agreements. Furthermore, the incumbent will assist the Protection Team in the effective operationalization of protection monitoring systems, ensuring that data collection and analysis align with protection objectives and standards.
Responsibilities
Operationalize country-specific common data standards and promote their adoption with partners, including UNHCR data standards and IASC Common Operational Datasets. Compile and aggregate information elements necessary for producing standardized information products and implement data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data. Collect, collate, and process information, performing data quality and consistency control checks. Produce summary statistics to inform decision-making. Support the coordination of data collection teams to ensure efficient and accurate data gathering. Leverage geographic data for map production and its utilization within geographic information systems (GIS). Share UNHCR data with partner agencies and maintain Portal data and information according to agreed frequencies. Participate in Needs Assessment processes, focusing on data collection, processing/collation, and data exploration. Liaise with partners and represent UNHCR in meetings relevant to information management functions. Provide recommendations and advice on technical information management requirements. Support the identification and management of risks, seeking opportunities that impact objectives within the area of responsibility, ensuring risk-based decision-making. Raise risks, issues, and concerns to a supervisor or relevant colleagues. Perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher. Essential experience includes handling confidential data and understanding different data collection methodologies.
