Responsibilities
The Registration Assistant is responsible for conducting registration interviews in strict adherence to local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and established registration standards. They must respond accurately to queries from asylum seekers and refugees concerning UNHCR's registration procedures, their rights, and entitlements. Maintaining precise and current records and data for all individual registration cases is a core duty. The assistant is tasked with identifying persons with specific needs and ensuring their prompt referral for necessary protection follow-up. Collaboration with protection staff and/or partners is essential for the delivery of assistance and programming, which includes providing identity and entitlement documentation. The role may require acting as an interpreter and translator when necessary. Referrals of cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners are also part of the responsibilities. The Registration Assistant must support the identification and management of risks, seeking opportunities that impact objectives in their area of responsibility, and ensuring that decision-making is risk-based. They are also responsible for raising risks, issues, and concerns to a supervisor or relevant colleagues. Performing other related duties as required is also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required for candidates with a High School Diploma. Experience working with UNHCR's proGres software is desirable.
