Organizational Context
UNHCR is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees. The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) mobilizes resources from the private sector. The Individual Giving (IG) team focuses on securing support from the general public through regular, unrestricted donations, aiming to grow the donor base and foster loyalty.
Job Purpose
The PSP Individual Giving Assistant contributes to the development of the Individual Giving team by providing technical expertise and operational support. The role aims to maximize the donor base for UNHCR by engaging individuals capable of providing donations ranging from $1 to $10,000 annually, depending on local market conditions. This involves implementing acquisition, donor retention, and development programs, ensuring effective donor servicing and communications, and managing donor database activities to support fundraising goals and enhance donor loyalty and lifetime value.
Responsibilities
The Individual Giving Assistant will work on implementing acquisition, donor retention, and development programs according to the annual plan. This includes providing donor servicing and communications, managing welcome, information, and thank you letters, and handling donor inquiries. The role involves working on various campaigns such as upgrade, conversion, acquisition, and loyalty initiatives. Monitoring and reporting on progress against work plans, expenditures, budgets, and targets is essential. The assistant will manage the donor database, ensuring data accuracy and providing analysis. For donor acquisition, responsibilities include developing cross-channel campaigns (F2F, Digital, DRTV, Multichannel, Direct Mailing), assisting with partner and supplier management, monitoring campaign performance, drafting guidelines, and supporting procurement processes. For retention and development, the assistant will work on donor journeys, supporter experience initiatives, and communication plans, liaising with external agencies for email marketing optimization, and producing donor care materials. The role also involves working with telemarketing suppliers, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and handling donor communications, while identifying and managing risks and opportunities.
Work Experience
1 year of relevant experience is required for GS4 grade with a High School Diploma. Experience in private sector fundraising, sales, client/donor communication, marketing, or journalism is essential. Experience with fundraising campaigns, and database management is also necessary.
