Registration Associate
Organizational Context
The Registration Associate is part of the Registration team, supervised by the Registration Officer. This role is crucial for supporting registration activities, ensuring it effectively identifies protection needs, manages operations, and contributes to durable solutions. The position may involve supervising registration staff and monitoring the quality of registration processes and data management.
Job Purpose
The Registration Associate is responsible for supporting all activities related to registration, ensuring its effective use for identifying specific protection needs, managing operations, and achieving durable solutions. This role involves collaborating with Protection, Programme, Operational Data Management, and Information Management colleagues, as well as government authorities and partners, to provide quality population data for registration activities. The Associate may supervise registration staff, monitor registration processes, and manage identity and entitlement documentation, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of the registration function within UNHCR's operations. The position also plays a part in ensuring data accuracy and the effective delivery of services to forcibly displaced and stateless persons.
Responsibilities
Assist in implementing registration strategies and methodologies for populations of concern. Support the supervision and daily operations of the registration team. Conduct registration interviews according to UNHCR standards and guidance. Provide counselling and respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding registration procedures, rights, and entitlements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data for all registration cases. Identify individuals with specific needs and ensure timely referral for protection follow-up. Collaborate with protection staff and partners on assistance delivery, programming, and identity/entitlement documentation. Draft correspondence and reports related to registration activities. Provide statistics and draft reports on registration data as requested. Make day-to-day operational decisions for the registration unit and devise efficient registration procedures in consultation with the supervisor. Draft and submit reports and statistics related to registration. Support the identification and management of risks impacting the area of responsibility, ensuring risk-based decision-making and reporting concerns to supervisors. Perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience in data management is essential. Training in basic principles of international protection and experience with UNHCR proGres software are desirable.
