Job Purpose
The Senior External Relations Associate will support UNHCR's efforts in Ecuador by strengthening partnerships and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders. This role is crucial for advancing UNHCR's mandate and ensuring the protection and well-being of refugees and displaced persons within the country. The associate will contribute to the development and implementation of strategies aimed at enhancing visibility, resource mobilization, and advocacy for UNHCR's operations. By fostering collaboration with governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and the private sector, the position plays a key part in creating a supportive environment for refugees and promoting durable solutions.
Responsibilities
The Senior External Relations Associate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of UNHCR's external relations strategy in Ecuador. This includes identifying and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, such as government officials, NGOs, academic institutions, and private sector entities, to advance UNHCR's mandate and operational objectives. The associate will assist in organizing and coordinating meetings, events, and consultations to foster dialogue and collaboration. A significant part of the role involves contributing to the development of communication materials, including press releases, talking points, and briefing notes, to enhance UNHCR's visibility and public understanding of refugee issues. The associate will also support resource mobilization efforts by identifying potential funding opportunities and assisting in the preparation of funding proposals. Monitoring and reporting on external relations activities, analyzing the political and social context, and providing timely advice to management are also key duties. Furthermore, the associate will contribute to advocacy efforts aimed at promoting the rights and well-being of refugees and other persons of concern.
Work Experience
Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in external relations, public affairs, or a related field, preferably within an international organization or NGO.
