Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Assistant
Organizational Context
The Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Assistant will support the livelihoods team in operationalizing the strategic vision to align livelihoods and economic inclusion efforts with the Global Compact on Refugees. This role contributes to strengthening refugee self-reliance and easing pressure on host countries by enhancing economic inclusion for both persons of concern and host community members.
Job Purpose
The Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Assistant will support the operationalization of the strategic vision for livelihoods and economic inclusion, aligning with the Global Compact on Refugees. The role aims to strengthen refugee self-reliance and ease pressure on host countries by enhancing economic inclusion for persons of concern and host community members. The Assistant will collaborate with UNHCR partners, government agencies, private sector, financial service providers, and other stakeholders to achieve these objectives. This includes working with cross-cutting areas like protection, education, cash, partnerships, and solutions. The incumbent will document good practices, results, and generate knowledge by supporting UNHCR databases and facilitating information sharing among various stakeholders. They will also assist in mobilizing refugees and communicating economic inclusion opportunities to them.
Responsibilities
Support partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance the economic inclusion of UNHCR Persons of Concern (PoC). Work with the multi-functional team, particularly the Protection Unit, to gather information on the legal framework for the right to work and rights at work. Contribute to implementing socioeconomic surveys to inform targeting, monitoring, and facilitation of development programme engagement. Provide assistance on livelihoods interventions in close collaboration with relevant teams. Contribute to the preparation of field reports and other relevant reports concerning livelihoods, making recommendations for interventions that enhance refugee economic inclusion to the designated officer. Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and working sessions. Support the identification and management of risks, seeking opportunities that impact the area of responsibility, and ensuring risk-based decision-making. Raise risks, issues, and concerns to a supervisor or relevant colleagues. Perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
1 year of relevant experience. Essential experience working with vulnerable and marginalized groups in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ideally in varied field contexts. Experience partnering with the private sector, NGOs, UN organizations, development actors, or government authorities.
