Job Purpose
The Associate Livelihood Officer will support the implementation of livelihood programmes aimed at enhancing the economic self-reliance and resilience of refugees and other persons of concern. This role involves contributing to the design, planning, and execution of activities that promote skills development, income-generating opportunities, and access to financial services. The officer will work closely with beneficiaries, local partners, and government authorities to ensure that livelihood interventions are responsive to the specific needs and contexts of the affected populations. The objective is to empower individuals and communities to achieve sustainable livelihoods, reduce dependency on humanitarian assistance, and improve their overall quality of life.
Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of livelihood strategies and projects, ensuring alignment with UNHCR’s mandate and operational priorities. Conduct needs assessments and market analyses to identify opportunities for skills development, entrepreneurship, and employment. Facilitate training sessions and workshops on vocational skills, financial literacy, and business management. Assist in establishing and strengthening partnerships with local businesses, NGOs, and government agencies to create linkages for employment and market access. Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of livelihood activities, collecting data and preparing regular reports. Provide technical guidance and support to implementing partners and community-based organizations. Ensure that livelihood programmes are inclusive and address the specific needs of vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities. Contribute to the development of proposals and fundraising efforts for livelihood initiatives. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to programme activities and beneficiary data. Stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in livelihood programming within the humanitarian sector.
Work Experience
At least two years of relevant professional experience in programme implementation, with a focus on livelihoods, economic development, or community-based initiatives.
