The Field Associate, supervised by a Senior Field Officer or Head of Office, undertakes diverse field activities. Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Field Associate is responsible for diligently monitoring the situation within the Area of Responsibility, collecting pertinent data and information for UNHCR, and reporting these findings to the supervisor. A core duty involves overseeing the implementation of UNHCR programmes, including the delivery of all assistance items and the monitoring of infrastructure projects. They undertake regular field visits to various sites to assess the needs of persons of concern, paying particular attention to vulnerable groups. The role requires maintaining regular contact with local authorities and implementing partners as directed by the supervisor, and acting as an interpreter when necessary. The incumbent contributes significantly to the preparation of status and progress reports by providing information and preparing tables. They also assist with administrative tasks, such as report preparation and supporting authorized personnel during field missions. Furthermore, the Field Associate informs and acts upon reports received regarding persons of concern from the refugee community or local authorities. In coordination with implementing partners, they assist in the reception, registration, and provision of assistance to persons of concern. The role also involves negotiating with local authority counterparts, partners, and populations of concern, and representing UNHCR in the physical monitoring of projects. Finally, they support the identification and management of risks, ensuring risk-based decision-making and escalating concerns to supervisors or relevant colleagues.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years with a Bachelor's degree. Desirable experience includes completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to the position's functions, and prior UNHCR field experience.
