Job Purpose
The Security Guard will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment within UNHCR premises, ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, and assets. This role involves monitoring access points, patrolling the premises, and responding to security incidents. The Security Guard will play a crucial part in implementing security protocols and procedures to prevent unauthorized access, theft, and other security breaches. The position requires vigilance, adherence to regulations, and the ability to act decisively in emergency situations. The Security Guard will contribute to the overall security framework of the UNHCR office in Tunis, ensuring a safe and protected working environment for all.
Responsibilities
The Security Guard will be tasked with monitoring all entry and exit points to prevent unauthorized access and ensure that only authorized personnel and visitors are allowed into the premises. This includes checking identification and maintaining visitor logs. The incumbent will conduct regular patrols of the UNHCR office premises, both internal and external, to detect and report any suspicious activities, security hazards, or breaches of security protocols. They will also be responsible for operating and monitoring security equipment, such as CCTV cameras and alarm systems, to ensure their proper functioning and to identify potential security threats. In the event of a security incident, such as a fire, medical emergency, or security breach, the Security Guard will respond promptly and appropriately, following established emergency procedures and providing initial assistance as required. They will also assist in enforcing office rules and regulations related to security and safety, ensuring compliance from staff and visitors. Maintaining accurate and detailed records of security-related activities, including patrols, incidents, and visitor logs, will be a key duty. The Security Guard will also collaborate with other security personnel and local law enforcement agencies when necessary, and perform any other security-related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the safety and security of UNHCR personnel and property.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is required. Experience in a multicultural environment is desirable.
