Job Purpose

The purpose of this Roster of Legal Trainers is to establish a pool of qualified individuals who can provide specialized legal training to UNHCR staff and partners. These trainers will be instrumental in enhancing the capacity of personnel to address complex legal issues related to refugee protection, international refugee law, and related human rights frameworks. The roster aims to ensure timely access to high-quality training, supporting UNHCR's mandate to protect refugees and find durable solutions. Responsibilities

Selected individuals will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training modules on various aspects of international refugee law, human rights law, and UNHCR's legal standards and procedures. This includes designing curricula, preparing training materials such as presentations, case studies, and handbooks, and facilitating interactive training sessions for diverse audiences, including legal officers, protection staff, and implementing partners. Trainers will be expected to stay abreast of the latest developments in refugee law and policy, incorporating them into training content. They will also be tasked with evaluating training effectiveness through participant feedback and assessments, and providing reports on training activities. Furthermore, trainers may be required to conduct needs assessments to identify specific training gaps and tailor programs accordingly. The role may also involve mentoring junior staff or partners on legal matters and contributing to the continuous improvement of UNHCR's legal training initiatives globally. Adherence to UNHCR's standards of professional conduct and ethical guidelines is paramount.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in international refugee law, human rights law, or humanitarian law, with a significant portion dedicated to training or capacity building.
