Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Assistant Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer will explore and develop partnerships with line ministries, the private sector, and development actors to facilitate the economic inclusion of refugees, advocating for their inclusion in services like business development and micro-finance. The role involves collaborating with the multi-functional team, particularly the Protection Unit, to assess legal frameworks for the right to work and implement advocacy for policy reform. The officer will utilize UNHCR databases to support information sharing and coordination among stakeholders, and conduct socioeconomic surveys to inform program targeting. Assessments will be conducted with public and private stakeholders to identify investment opportunities. In UNHCR-implemented livelihood activities, the officer will provide technical assistance to ensure market-based approaches and strategic positioning of UNHCR. Risk management is also a key responsibility, involving the identification and management of risks and opportunities impacting objectives, and reporting concerns to supervisors. The role requires proactive engagement in seeking new opportunities and mobilizing resources for economic and social integration models.
Work Experience
1 year of relevant experience with an undergraduate degree, or no experience required with a graduate or doctorate degree. Experience in facilitating economic inclusion for vulnerable groups and partnering with private sector, NGOs, UN agencies, development actors, and government authorities in relevant livelihood sub-sectors is essential.
