Organizational Context

UNFPA is the lead UN agency dedicated to delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. This internship is situated within the UNFPA West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO) in Dakar, Senegal. The intern will contribute to UNFPA's mandate by enhancing their skills and capacity in areas related to the organization's strategic plan.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to provide a learning opportunity for individuals to enhance their skills and capacity in data processing and analysis within the context of UNFPA's mandate. The intern will work on a defined work-plan, with agreed-upon achievements and learning objectives. Periodic progress meetings will foster a supportive environment for skill development. The role contributes to UNFPA's overarching goal of accelerating progress towards the ICPD and SDGs, particularly in areas related to maternal health, family planning, gender equality, and adapting to demographic changes, while addressing the impacts of global challenges.

Responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for data processing and analysis tasks as defined in their work-plan. This includes applying analytical skills to interpret data and contribute to organizational goals. The role requires effective communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences. Collaboration with colleagues is essential, valuing diverse perspectives and contributing to team objectives. The intern will also focus on client orientation, understanding needs and providing appropriate solutions, while maintaining awareness of the internal and external environment. A high level of motivation and a commitment to delivering excellent results are expected.

Work Experience

No prior work experience is strictly required for this internship. However, relevant experience in data processing or analysis, or related fields, would be considered an asset.

Skills

Strong analytical skills, effective communication (written and verbal), teamwork, client orientation, and a high level of motivation. Proficiency in relevant data processing and analysis tools is desirable.
