Communications and Advocacy Support Volunteer
Organizational Context
This role is a volunteer position within UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. The volunteer will be based in New York, USA, supporting communications and advocacy efforts. Job Purpose
The Communications and Advocacy Support Volunteer will contribute to UNFPA's mission by assisting in the development and implementation of communication strategies and advocacy initiatives. Responsibilities
The volunteer will support the planning and execution of communication campaigns and advocacy activities. This includes assisting in the creation of content for various platforms, such as social media, websites, and press releases. The role involves coordinating with internal teams to gather information and ensure consistent messaging. Additionally, the volunteer will help in organizing events, managing communication databases, and monitoring media coverage. The position requires excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, support independent work with minimal supervision, and contribute to a productive multicultural team environment.
Work Experience
Some experience in project management, communications, and/or administration is required. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities are essential. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and productively in a multicultural team under pressure is also necessary.
Skills
Excellent communication and writing skills are required. Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of an additional United Nations language is an asset. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities are needed.
