The Finance Analyst supports programme implementation by managing UNFPA resources, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, and providing financial guidance. This role reports to the International Operations Manager and collaborates with programme staff to ensure effective operational support for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Job Purpose

The Finance Analyst is responsible for contributing to the effective financial management of UNFPA resources. This involves administering and executing financial transactions, applying expertise in organizational policies and procedures, and providing guidance to staff and project managers. The role supports programme implementation by ensuring financial resources are planned and utilized according to work plans, managing funding support to Implementing Partners, and facilitating HACT assurance activities. The Finance Analyst ensures timely and effective financial support, guides the application of financial systems, and contributes to achieving programme results.

Responsibilities

The Finance Analyst monitors budget implementation for all resources, addressing budgetary issues and ensuring appropriate control. They integrate financial policies, provide guidance and training, and monitor financial dashboards for compliance and quality. The role ensures the completion of financial accountability checklists and the establishment of adequate internal controls. Responsibilities include managing the operational and HR budgets, preparing financial reports, and developing financial tracking tools. The Finance Analyst provides quality assurance for HACT, reviews financial transactions, and coordinates audits. They act as a focal point for common finance services and donor reporting, ensuring systematic follow-up on audit recommendations. The role involves supervising the finance unit, overseeing year-end closure, and providing training to junior staff and Implementing Partners.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of relevant finance experience is required. Experience within the UN or international organizations is desirable. Knowledge of UN financial regulations, IPSAS, HACT, donor reporting, and internal controls is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with UN/UNFPA ERP tools are expected.
