Organizational Context

Based in Belize, this role is within the UNFPA Sub-regional Offices for the Caribbean (SROC). The Programme Analyst provides programmatic leadership and collaborates with technical and programme staff in the Regional and Sub-Regional Offices. UNFPA is the lead UN agency focused on sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and empowering young people, working to achieve the ICPD Programme of Action and Sustainable Development Goals.

Job Purpose

The Programme Analyst reports to the Sexual and Reproductive Health Technical Adviser and is responsible for coordinating and supervising the implementation of the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (APP) project in Belize and Suriname. This involves overseeing activity schedules, ensuring effective information flow, and managing programme and financial implementation. The role plays a key part in facilitating the APP programme, providing technical support to implementing partners, and tracking results against the performance management framework to ensure project objectives are met and young people's potential is realized.

Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance for selecting implementing partners and identifying their capacity-building needs, leading technical assistance and training initiatives. Monitor programme expenditures and disbursements to ensure alignment with approved budgets and achieve targeted delivery levels. Ensure timely and effective implementation of project activities, both administrative and programmatic, according to UNFPA modalities. Support the strengthening of multi-sectoral partnerships with government agencies, civil society, UN agencies, and development partners. Collaborate closely with leadership to ensure effective project objective implementation. Identify and disseminate promising practices, technical expertise, and lessons learned. Support programme and donor reporting, including contributing human interest stories. Assist in developing and finalizing advocacy and information materials. Prepare progress reports and systematize activities for ongoing project management evaluation and reporting.

Work Experience

Essential experience in programme management and stakeholder coordination. Professional experience in sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, gender equality, or communication for development programmes is required. Experience with social behavior strategies is a strong asset. Excellent oral and written communication, drafting, and reporting skills are necessary.
